The Asgard II – Mark Heiman

To me weigh, heigh, the Asgard rolls,
Around the point and past the shoals,
With her ladies and her gentlemen,
She’ll soon be sailing home again

“The Asgard II,” a tongue-in-cheek sea shanty by Meg Davis, performed by Mark Heiman.  If Meg Davis’ version is online somewhere, I haven’t been able to find it, but for some reason I do have chords.

Chorus: C—/FCG-/FGC-/FG-C//
Verse: C—/F-CG/F-CG/FGCG//

Every Single Song She Sings Is Tragic – Jeff and Maya Bohnhoff

“Every Single Song She Sings Is Tragic,” by Jeff and Maya Bohnhoff, a parody of (do I need to say it) “Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic” by The Police

….this song could be about me and I feel the need to apologize, even in the context of this blog – I know I pass over a lot of probably good songs because I’d just rather have ose, dammit

This song made it onto the “Best Adapted Song” Pegasus brainstorming poll for 2016, and I urge you to check out the lists, whether you plan on voting (and every single one of you is eligible to vote, yes, looking at you) or are just looking for some good song recs.

Cliffs of Insanity

So, this is very exciting news for me…last week, the nominating ballot for the 2016 Pegasus Awards (for excellence in filk music) was released, along with the results of this year’s brainstorming poll. (The poll is just a list of ideas generated by other filkers to assist with the nominating process.)
Anyway, the exciting part is that our song “Cliffs of Insanity,” a parody of “Green Hills of Harmony” about The Princess Bride, was mentioned in the “Best Adapted Song” category. Sweet!

whoops wrong blog (this is so annoying…)

Geeky Girls – Eben Brooks

Okay, so I think this song is hilarious.  I have no idea if anyone else will think this song is hilarious.  It’s something about the combination filk lyrics and the song being filked, which is a weird old ballad about trying to force people to marry you.
…anyway.  “Geeky Girls,” by Eben Brooks (from his new album!  which can be found here)

The FuMP: Munchkins by Beth Kinderman & the Player Characters

And we’ll never be munchkins (munchkins)
It’s the story we want
Fight after fight, too much the same
We crave a different kind of game

I got to meet Beth Kinderman at Marscon last weekend, and when I mentioned it @sci-fantasy recommended this song, and…I strongly relate.

Lyrics and lead vocals by Beth Kinderman, Justin Hartley on drums, Dave Stagner did synthesizer and production, and Nikki Walker is the backup singer.  Tune is “Royals,” by Lorde.
