The Dragon-Slayer – Vanessa Cardui

I think it’s time to slay the dragon
I think it’s time to take a stand
He’s been eating all our babies, pretty girls and little old ladies,
And it’s time someone faced him like a man

This song is hilarious?  I think?  I know it doesn’t look like it should be, from this excerpt and the title, but trust me.  This arrangement is also very pretty, which makes everything somewhat surreal.  Warning for some bad language, so…don’t listen when your parents are around, kids.

Never Again – Andrew Heinrich

Well I’ve sailed north to Ireland
I’ve sailed south to France
I’ll sail to the New World
If you give half a chance
But brave as I might be
And bold as I am
I’ll never go drinking
With Michael again!

“Never Again,” by Andrew Heinrich, about someone who has apparently become a bit of a legend in the SCA.  The lyrics are here, and you’ll probably need them, since I couldn’t find a clean (free) recording, but they’re also incomplete.  They don’t include the “Stairway to Heaven” verse, for instance.

Dear Seanan – Erin & Rand Bellavia

This is “Dear Seanan” (a parody of Seanan McGuire’s song “Dear Gina,” based on Seanan’s October Daye series), performed at FilKONtario 23 by Erin and Rand Bellavia. Lyrics by Erin Bellavia and Merav Hoffman.

Dairy Queen – Technical Difficulties

“Dairy Queen,” a parody of Shiela Willis’ “Come Ye Knights,” performed by Technical Difficulties

The original song is somewhat necessary for context, because alone you just kind of think “why…why are they doing this…”

(at least, I would)

The Saga Begins – Weird Al Yankovic

beggars-opera:

I would just like to remind everyone that regardless of your opinion of the Star Wars prequels, they did produce one of the greatest parody songs of all time, which by the way was written entirely before the movie came out using spoilers from pre-Google 1990s fansites.

I’m sure everyone’s heard this song, but I had no idea it was written before the movie came out, and that is amazing.
