I heard this at Minicon last April and thought it was hilarious. Some good wordplay, and a bit close to home. This is on my list of “I should figure out the chords to this because I want to sing it myself, but I am just so bad at that I guess I’ll put it off indefinitely.”
“A Member of the Rabble,” by Kevin Brixius, performed by Rockthrow
Cold Iron -Leslie Fish
Gold is for the mistress – silver for the maid –
Copper for the craftsman, cunning at his trade.
“Good!” said the Baron, sitting in his hall,
“But Iron – Cold Iron – is master of them all.”
Rudyard Kipling’s “Cold Iron,” set and sung by Leslie Fish
This was requested, and I’m kind of surprised I hadn’t posted it before; it’s one of my favorite Fish/Kiplings. Kipplefishes? Fishlings.
The Red Queen – Annwn
With a black flag dancing overhead,
we’ll salt your beef with flying lead,
and you’ll regret that ever you fed
at the board of Anne Bonney.
A good old-fashioned pirate song by Leigh Ann Hussey and Annwn. Lyrics available here
Dragon for Sale – Benjamin Newman
This came up on the Pegasus Awards brainstorming poll for “Best Time-Related Song,” and I’d say it deserves a shot. Ben Newman is wry and clever as always.

Goodnight, Sarah-Jane – Talis Kimberly
In memory of Lis Sladen, who played Sarah Jane Smith in Doctor Who and The Sarah Jane Adventures.
If you buy a download through bandcamp, Talis is donating the proceeds to cancer research.
You Can't Bring Your iPod to Hogwarts – Tickle the Pear
This song came up on the Pegasus Awards brainstorming poll for Best Filk Song this year, which I say first to encourage you to listen to it, and second because the singer is a self-described Wrocker, and I’m always interested in exactly where the overlap between filk and Wrock sits.
Anyway, she makes a fair point. You can’t bring your iPod to Hogwarts.
The Ballad of Idath's Ride – Leigh Ann Hussey
Suggested by animatedamerican, in honor of the late great Leigh Ann Hussey’s birthday
Lyrics and sheet music are in her songbook, chords here, and more music can be found at this website
(I said I would post this TODAY and then put it in the queue and forgot about it but there are STILL THREE MINUTES to get it in under the wire on California time)
Hunter of the Early Prey – Ju Honisch & Katy Droege-Macdonald
Spring Goddess and elven queen,
oft imagined, never seen,
unicorn and mandragore
hold their counsel midst the gore.
This song has a light Jethro Tull vibe that I really dig.
Scarlet Town – Cathy McManamon
Decked out
In our leather and lace
She had starlight shining on her face
Didn’t feel the chill
Of the salty air
As she kissed me here and there
“Scarlet Town,” by Cathy McManamon
I am Stardust (The Universe Song) – Urban Tapestry
“I Am Stardust” performed by the trio Urban Tapestry, written by Lloyd Landa
Urban Tapestry is Debbie Ohi, Allison Durno, and Debbie Redpath
