Shadow Moon – Cheshire Moon

So Cheshire Moon has had a fourth album out for a little while now. “Shadow Moon” is one of the new songs. It’s about the recent solar eclipse, and it has a chorus I just can’t get out of my head. Isn’t the album cover cute?

Shadow Moon, shadow moon
Cast your dark light upon me
Take the sunlight from my sight
Show me what I need to see

O Christmas Tree Cluster – Sophus

sophus-b:

I wrote an ode to the Christmas Tree Cluster, and all the other awesome astronomical objects in it’s region. This is my present to you, Internet.

Have an awesome holiday– and may the stars shine bright tonight!

O Christmas Tree Cluster

O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree,

How brightly shines
your majesty!

Called NGC
two-two-six-four,

But you are also so
much more.

O Christmas tree, O
Christmas tree,

How brightly shines
your majesty!

O Christmas tree, O
Christmas tree,

So many stars adorn
thee!

Your stellar furnace
casts it’s glow,

And bathes us in
it’s light below.

O Christmas tree, o
Christmas tree,

So many stars adorn
thee!

O Christmas tree, O
Christmas tree,

Twinkling for our
jubilee!

So far to fly for
Santa’s sleigh:

Twenty-six-thousand
light years ‘way.

O Christmas tree, O
Christmas tree,

Twinkling for our
jubilee!

O Christmas tree, O
Christmas tree,

We greet you at our
apogee!

We lift our eyes up
to the sky;

Your light inspires
man to fly.

O Christmas tree, O
Christmas tree,

We
greet you at our apogee!

Flashing Blue – Adolphson & Falk

In the early 80s, one of the big bands on the Swedish music scene was Adolphson & Falk. A lot of their early stuff covered space, technology, radios, and astronomy (they met during their military service at the Swedish agency for signals intelligence). This is their breakthrough song “Blinkar blå” in English translation.

As far as I know they have never been a part of or encountered sf fandom, but this is true found filk.

Omega 13 – The Faithful Sidekicks

“Omega 13,” a dance number by The Faithful Sidekicks (Eric and Jen Distad), who are made of win. This one is for those who love Galaxy Quest. Which should be everyone. Yes, that was a judgment.

Come on, do it again
Let’s rewind the scene
Put your coat on the hanger
And grab your doppelganger
Let’s do the Omega 13

Wings of Human Knowledge – Echo’s Children

There are wings of flesh and feather, there are wings of bone and leather
There are wings of painted paper pinned to polished wooden spars
But wings of force and fire never falter, never tire
And the wings of human knowledge span the void between the stars.
